Kurdish Art Featured at DC Gallery

To balance the politics of the upcoming elections with culture, this week the Foundry Gallery in Washington, DC will open a show of Kurdish art, entitled “My Kurdistan: Paintings of Kurdish Life”—running from March 3 to March 28.

Paintings featured in the exhibition range from the well known to emerging artists, including Falah Shwan and six others: Raouf Hasan, Jamal Mushir, Hekmat Hndi, Sardar Kestai, Kurdo Hasan, Jawhar Mohamad.

I am always excited when an opportunity arises to show off another facet of life and culture the Kurdistan Region. Many of these particular pieces I’ve seen and they are beautiful, truly visually evocative.

So if you’re in the Washington area during the month of March, be sure to check it out—and tell your friends!
